Here are my first three books for 2022. I have been in a weird reading mood for the last few weeks so my reading has been a bit all over the place but I have to say the first three books were good so hopefully that is indictive of how the rest of the year is going to go. Also I have been fighting a bad cold so hopefully this post will be coherent. lol

Sometimes Kenya Davenport believes she was switched at the hospital--how else could a lover of anime, gaming, and cosplay come from STEM parents? Still, Kenya dreams of being able to turn her creative hobby into a career. She finally has a chance to make it big when she joins the reality show competition Cosplay or No Way.

There's just one catch: the challenge for the final round is all about iconic pairs, and the judges want the contestants' significant others to participate. Unfortunately, Kenya is as single as can be at the moment. Luckily her best friend, Cameron Lassiter, agrees to be her fake boyfriend for the show.
Roleplaying a couple in love will force them to explore what they're hiding under the mask of friendship. Can Kenya and Cam fake it until she makes it, or will she be real about her feelings, knowing it could cost her the best friend she's ever had?

This was such a good book! I LOVE the best friends to lover's trope, so I was pretty much sold from the get-go but then the threw in the fake dating trope on top of that and I was in romance heaven. Plus, it is very well written and the chemistry between Kenya and Cam is so good. I love how supportive and loving they are with each other throughout the book. It is all so sweet and lovely. I highly recommend it.

I am loving Lindsay Buroker's series Forgotten Ages so when I was in the mood for some sci-fi I thought I would check out her Star Kingdom series. This book took me awhile to get into. Basically the main character Casmir is a scientist specializing in robotics and one day finds himself under attack from assassians so with the help of his friend Kim he escapes on the first spaceship leaving the planet. He has to find out who is out to get him and why but there is more going on then Casmir at first realizes. Casmir is smart but also an idiot if that makes sense and at first I really found him kind of annoying. It wasn't until the second half of the book that the characters and the plot finally clicked for me and I found myself actually really interested in what would happen next. So overall I liked it and look forward to the next one.

After her husband's passing, Elizabeth Overfield decides that she must enter into another suitable marriage. That, however, is the last thing on her mind when she meets Colin Handrich, Lord Hodges, at the Westcott Christmas house party. She simply enjoys his company as they listen to carolers on Christmas Eve, walk home from church together on Christmas morning, and engage in a spirited snowball fight in the afternoon. Both are surprised when their sled topples them into a snowbank and they end up sharing an unexpected kiss. They know there is no question of any relationship between them, for she is nine years older than he.

They return to London the following Season, both committed to finding other, more suitable matches. Still they agree to share one waltz at each ball they attend. This innocuous agreement proves to be one that will topple their worlds, as each dance steadily ensnares them in a romance that forces the two to question what they are willing to sacrifice for love.

This is book five of the series and I haven't read any of the others before I picked up this one.  That is very unusual for me as I like to read books in order.  But this one sounded really interesting, and I didn't want to go back and read the other four first so I decided to take and chance and hope I could catch on to anything I had missed by not reading them as written.  It actually was pretty easy the author does explain who everyone is and what their relationship to the main characters are.  I quite enjoyed this book both Elizabeth and Colin were interesting characters, and they were a delightful couple to follow as they fell in love. Plus I liked the fact that the age difference for once went the other direction with the woman being older by almost a decade then the man.  I also liked how the author dealt with the tension between the characters and the problems they faced.   All in all a great book.
