[livejournal.com profile] asphaltcowgrrl 's post reminded me that I was going to post about Dracula Daily before it started but I had forgotten. Oops!

Dracula Daily is a project to read the book Dracula or as they put it on their website: "Dracula Daily is an email newsletter that sends you the novel Dracula, in real-time, as it happens to the characters." The novel started on May 3rd and so yesterday we received the first entry of the book via email. You get each entry on the corresponding date thereafter until it ends in November.

I did it last year and it was a lot of fun. You can sign up HERE.

Also, I found a podcast called RE: Dracula where they have a full cast along with music and sound editing which follows along with the Dracula Daily schedule so you can listen to it that way as well. I have been really enjoying following along it totally adds to the experience. You can find them on just about every podcast platform.

Is anyone doing a reading challenge this upcoming year?

I would love some recommendations. I was thinking of redoing The 2020 Reading Challenge from ljbookbingo, but I would love to maybe do another one concurrently as well.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!  The reading challenge I did last year was one of the highlights for me and was very encouraging to me in a very trying year.

Thanks so much! :D

I hope you all have been well.  I have been feverishly working on various fanfic stories.

1. I wrote and sent off to beta a New Orleans Loretta x Pride story for the community older_not_dead.  I've really fallen in love with this pairing so I am very excited that I finally wrote a story for them.

2. My NCIS bigbang is just about finished. I printed it out in order to edit it.  I hope the sequel is as good as last year's everyone seemed to really like it.

3. I have also been squeezing in some Librarian stories for the Librarian-ship-a-thon.  So far I have, finished Cassandra Ezekiel, Flynn Moriarty, Cassandra Estrella.  I have an idea or have started three others, which I hope to finish soon.

Real life has been super busy and I have been a bit stressed but I am trying to keep a positive frame of mind and not let myself get bogged down.

I just need to stay focused but that same time remember this is supposed to be fun!

I signed up for the March Challenge for the comm [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo. I have to rec 15 stories before the April 5th deadline. I love to rec stories so in the past I have really enjoyed this challenge. The table I received:

runaways slaves forbidden love

I don't like it.

Of the three I think I may be able to find some stories that I've read for the runaway and forbidden love category. I am definitely going to have to broaden my definition for both categories. Well it is a called a challenge not a cakewalk so I will just have to do my best. :)

Happy New Years!!!

I can't believe it's this time a year again.  This year's Auld Lang Syne is from Scotland there is something about the bagpipes that I love:

It's been a good year personally.  My family is all doing well and we are all healthy.  God has blessed us.  Although it has been a very shaky year for politics but we must have faith and stick together.

This year's stories under the cut:

And picked daisies fine... ) and [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo, which are a couple of my favorite comms.  Plus I completed my first ever NCIS BigBang for the comm [livejournal.com profile] ncis_bang, I am hopeful to maybe participate next year as well with my Marching on sequel.  I am actually proud of myself for finishing one of my W.I.P. that had been sitting on my laptop for at least 3 years.  That makes me hopeful for the other's that they may see the light of day!

May everyone have a Blessed New Year!!!!!!!!

2015 has been a great year.  For this years Auld Lang Syne how about the very heartfelt ending to It's a Wonderful Life...

This year was not a proliferic one when it comes to fanfic because I have been insanely busy but what I did manage to complete I think was fairly done.  This year's stories under the cut:

We've londoned many weary feet... )

Personally this year was a good one.  My family is doing well and the Lord has blessed us greatly.  Healthwise we are all doing well, work is going along fine and life is good!  I hope all of your guys New Year's is fun and relaxing and 2016 treats all of us well!

Happy New Year! :D

I managed to complete a bingo. I was a little worried that I wouldn't finish because RL has gotten so busy. The story I planned for my healers square became too long to finish in time, so instead I ended up doing 10 recs for the square. Overall I am very happy with what I did manage to produce for this round!

It was a lot of fun!  I am not sure I will play next year because I don't see my life getting any less busy but we will see.

Signed up for a new card at [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo and I am very excited! I hopefully it will motivate finish my Mag 7 sequel that have been dragging my feet on. I have so many ideas! Now I just have to find the time. ;)

I had a long eloquent post all set to post when LJ gliched and erased EVERYTHING!  So this is a redo which is a lot less eloquent and much shorter.

Happy Belated New Year!  I hope everyone had a great evening.

It has been a good year.  My family is doing well.  My husband got a new job that he likes and meets our needs better.  I have had some health issues but thankfully nothing serious.  Mentally I have done really well, especially for me as I tend to worry and fret.

As far as my writing I did fairly well this year considering how busy RL has been. I was all over the place as far as fandoms go:

10 stories
11 Fandoms: Atlantis, Doctor Who, BTVS, Magnificent Seven, Psych, Thor, Iron Man, Almost Human, Monk, Hawaii 5-O, and Labyrinth
32,590 Published words, and a bunch more just sitting on my laptop.  32,500 is really good for me!
Most of those were for three comms [livejournal.com profile] stories_a_z, [livejournal.com profile] older_not_dead, and [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo.  Apparently I work well with deadlines without them I tend to meander. Although my longest story was self-motivated, so who knows.

God-willing I will be able to finish the sequels that I have promised in the coming year.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Bingo!

I completely surprised myself and signed up for a hurt/comfort bingo card over at [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo. I am very excited to get started!

My card is under the cut:

My hc_bingo card )

I think I got a good card and idea's are already percolating. I was able to (I think) finish my Atlantis h/c fic very very late last night. I will give it a week or so and work on other things to cleanse my palate so to speak and then re-read it and edit it. Then I will have to find a beta who knows the show and can work on my terrible grammer.

:)

I actually have some free time in the next couple of days and I am determined to finish my Atlantis fanfiction. I started this thing back before the season was even over and I'm about 7000 words into it and I'm almost done. I just have one more big action scene and then some comfort at the end as it is a hurt/comfort story.  For some reason the story has been a little bit slow going, I would have fits and spurts of creativity followed by weeks of writers block.  So I figured if I declared that (Lord willing) I would have it done by the end of these two days then I may actually finish it this weekend.  I have other stories gnawing on me to finish them, plus I have some new ideas that I would like to work on as well.

I am very excited to see that they have renewed it for a second season I enjoyed the friendship between Hercules, Pythagoras, and Jason plus the finale left a lot of loose ends and some big reveals so it will be nice to see what happens next!

I have only been able to find one LiveJournal community for the show [livejournal.com profile] bbc_atlantis. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spots so if anyone knows of any others let me know. I also need an Atlantis icon I will hunt around for that AFTER I finish the story.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  I am off to write some more!

I am trying to journal more in this new year so I thought I would start off with a website rec.

I am an avid reader and I am always looking for new books to read. So one of my favorite websites is a site called Paperbackswap.com.

Trade Books for Free - PaperBack Swap.

What it is is a site where you can list books that you own that you no longer want.

If you list ten books you get one credit, with that credit you can peruse other members books and if you find one you like you can order it. The member will then send you the used book. If someone requests a book from you all you have to do is print out the address and mail it. Sent media mail it usually costs me between $2.00-$3.00 dollars a book. I have been a member for over 5 years and have swapped many books. Books can be very expensive so this is a good way to get more books without having to pay much at all. Give it a shot you won't be disappointed!

Happy New Years!  I hope everyone's end of the year went well.

For Your listening pleasure here is the lovely Julie Andrews singing Auld Lang Syne:

This year has been both very difficult and very joyful. It has been difficult in various personal ways such as a septic tank failure and our car finally dying, neither of which could we afford. It has been joyful in the fact that we welcomed a new baby in May when we had given up on adding to our family, she is truly a blessing from God. Plus of the many worst case scenario's I envisioned happening in my life most of them didn't so that was great!

I am determined to not do resolutions this year so that in 3 weeks I do not feel like a failure for not following through. If I am going to change something in my life I will and if I fail, I will get back up having (hopefully) learned my lesson and keep going.

We'll take a cup of kindness yet... )

All were written for the comm [livejournal.com profile] older_not_dead, which goes to show you that I apparently need a deadline in order to finish anything!   Also that means I have 3 more letters done for my [livejournal.com profile] stories_a_z table only 17 more to go. I am so thankfull there is no deadline for that table!

Other then the fic I have already mentioned I have also started ones for Monk, Atlantis, and Labyrinth.

In all, I am praying for a blessed year this year.  I hope that for all of you as well!  Happy New Years!

I am so excited! I signed up for a Mini-bang.
It is called [livejournal.com profile] superwho_bang

It is a Mini bang for Supernatural/Doctor Who crossover stories.  The mini bang  is 4,000 words min. Rough Drafts are due Sept. 30.  So I think I can do it. I have that SPN/DW story that I am working on that is almost ready and so I was thinking that I could make it longer in time!  Although it would mean putting aside other fics that I have been working on including a H-50/BTVS crossover(I love crossovers!), I am terribly excited I think it is just the push I need to finish this story! Plus they have a winter Big bang/min bang starting in Nov.  So I could do the sequel I have planned then  so between Sept and Nov I could do the research and start writing it would push me to finish the sequel sooner rather then later.  :D  Very exciting!

In honor of the occasion here is an awesome Martha Jones/Doctor Who video done by the amazing TenFan89:

It is such a lovely and heartbreaking video it is from Martha's pov during the episode "Human Nature".  If you enjoy the video please go to youtube and let TenFan89 know!

I am very excited I have two stories off to betas right now!

First one is a Danny/Kono story which I wrote for the comm [livejournal.com profile] older_not_dead.  Which is a comm for romance over the age of 40.  They have a many prompts that you can choose from as long as the couple is over the age of 40 you can post.  So obviously it is a future fic, because Kono's age on the show has never been revealed and Danny's is around 35.  There has been some discussion on LJ and people seem to place her age between 23-27, so placed Kono's age at 27 when we first meet her in the pilot episode.  Takes place about 14 years after that episode and it is about her 41st birthday.  Very excited to have another story out there.  I am also going to use it for my [livejournal.com profile] stories_a_z table.  Since I have only used one letter I just need to decide on a title.

The second one is a crossover I have been playing around with for awhile and have mentioned before it is a Doctor Who/SPN crossover.  Pre-relationship Dean/Martha but mostly a friendship fic.  This fic has really been kicking my butt because I want it to be good so my beta has really been working with me to make it better.  It was a serious mess when she got a hold of it but she is all kinds of awesome and is being patient with me.  I am waiting for her to look over it a second time and let me know if I am going in the right direction.  I am hoping that it is the beginning of a series, I have an idea of what is going to happen in the next story but I need to do a lot more research.  This will also be used for my [livejournal.com profile] stories_a_z table.  I think I am going to use the title from the song The End Where I Begin by the Script. I think it describes Martha's frame of mind perfectly. How she's hurt and still dealing with what happened during the year that never was and the after effects. But also how she's taking control over her own life and trying to decide what to do next! Very excited!

Here's the song if you have never heard it(it's really good):

Hope everyone's week is going well!
under_the_silk_tree: Martha with a soft smile, so beautiful (Martha)
I actually managed to finish a story! (almost)  Unfortunately, it wasn't either one of my unfinished NCIS stories.  I am really hoping there will be an NCIS BigBang this year I think I need a deadline to finish these stories, plus artwork would be awesome.

Back to the story it is a crossover between Doctor Who/Supernatural, featuring my favorite Doctor Who character Dr. Martha Jones.

Basically it is an AU after Martha ends her engagement with Tom.

It is a one-shot but it lends itself to a sequel and I already have scenes for the next story in my head but I would need to do a lot of research so it would be slow going.  I am waffling I am not sure if I want it to put it out there as a one shot or wait and publish it as something longer.

But I would love to get a beta reader for this story but I don't really have a go to person for that.  Where would I even ask?  I do reread my stories and try to catch all my mistakes but it seems like no matter how many times I read my stories I always miss something that I won't catch until after I have posted it.  I know on ffn that they have a list of people who are willing to be beta's but how do you know if they are any good or not.  Oh well I guess I will have to figure it out.

Still excited!

Update

Feb. 19th, 2012 09:47 pm
under_the_silk_tree: stack of old books (Persuasion)

Well, I am still working on my Tim-centric NCIS story, although I am taking a little break.  I have lost the thread of the plot.  I know where I want it to end but I am not sure how to get it there.

So I started to work on a story for NCIS:LA it is Hetty-centric AU.  I am trying to write a fairytale, I was planning for a slightly shorter story but apparently I am incapable of writing one.  It is about 4,000 words, so far.  I am having a hard with moving the story along I keep getting bogged down in the details.  I had hoped to enter it for the prompt-a-thon for the comm [livejournal.com profile] older_not_dead but I will not finish it in time to get it in for the Feb 29th Deadline.  Even if I finish it in time I was hoping for a beta to look it over as my grammer is pretty awful at the best of times.

Personally it has been a hard week trying to deal with RL issues, nothing serious but they all seemed to build up all at once.  So I have a spare bits and pieces of time to write which doesn't help with my problem of moving the story along.  But here's hoping this week will be better!
