My Fortieth book for [profile] ljbookbingo is Sleepless by Sarah Vaughn & Leila del Duca for #18 A Graphic Novel, card found here:

Lady "Poppy" Pyppenia is guarded by the Sleepless Knight Cyrenic, but becomes endangered when an assassin threatens her life in the new king's reign. As Poppy and Cyrenic try to discover who wants her dead, they must navigate the dangerous waters of life at court, and of their growing feelings for one another. ~Goodreads Book Description

I have been wanting to read this series for a long while. The art is gorgeous and so well drawn and the palate they chose was lovely. I loved the plot of court intrigue and the magic of the Sleepless Knights. The Sleepless as they are called are guards who pledge their fealty to the king through magic by never sleeping to do so they borrow time from the end of their lives so they can be ever vigilant . Princess Poppy and her knight Cyrenic are an intriguing duo as they try to make their way through a treacherous court while denying their feelings for each other.

My Forty-First book for [profile] ljbookbingo is Another Man's Shoes by Victor Bridges for #48 A Book at the Bottom of Your TBR List, card found here:

Jack Burton is a down on his luck Englishman who is just back from South America and runs into one Stuart Northcote a fabulously wealthy business man who currently has a group of assassins' after him (for good reason we later find out).  Apparently the two men look so much alike they could be twins so Northcote offers Jack a considerable amount of money if they could switch places for three weeks.  If Jack is alive after the three weeks then Northcote will give him even more money.  Jack a bit of an adventure hound and needing the money agrees and within 48 hours Jack is almost killed twice.  So begins Another Man's Shoes an action/adventure tale written in 1913 that sweeps you along as Jack tries to live another man's life while avoiding being killed.  I found Victor Bridges other book a Rogue by Compulsion in a used bookstore's clearance bin.  I liked that book so much that when I saw how cheap this one was on Kindle I snatched it up.  Although I don't think it was as good as that one I did still think it was well written.  Mr. Bridges' protagonists seem to be a sort of ever calm devil may care type of character with a heart of gold that is very charming.  Although I have to say I was a bit disappointed by the causal racism that happened couple of times in the book.
