Once, a girl called Ace travelled the universe with the Doctor – until, in the wake of a terrible tragedy they parted company. Decades later, she is known as Dorothy McShane, the reclusive millionaire philanthropist who heads global organization A Charitable Earth. And Dorothy is haunted by terrible nightmares, vivid dreams that begin just as scores of young runaways are vanishing from the dark alleyways of London. Could the disappearances be linked to sightings of sinister creatures lurking in the city shadows? Why has an alien satellite entered a secret orbit around the Moon? ~Goodreads Description
ljbookbingo is Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen for #29 Read an Old Favorite, card found here:

Northanger Abbey is still one of my all time favorite books. So when a book podcast I listen to decided to read this story and then discuss it in a series of podcasts, it seemed like the perfect time to do a reread. I was very happy to find that I still loved it. Catherine is such a great protagonist and I love Henry as well, their interactions are still so intriguing. If you've never read this Austen novel I would highly recommend it!

I absolutely loved that they brought Ace back to meet the 13th Doctor. This was a well written story where Ace who now goes by Dorothy is once again entangled in mysterious goings on which eventually put her in the path of the Doctor, Yaz, Ryan, and Graham. I enjoyed all their interactions especially loved the fact Ace and the Doctor got closure and where really able to talk to each other and come to a better understanding. Sophie Aldred who wrote this book also played Ace on the show which I think really helped her be able to write the character with such depth and understanding.

Date: 2020-03-28 04:48 am (UTC)Plus I have been in a bit of a fanfic dry spell. I haven't been really into any fandom here lately so I haven't really been reading all that much fic, which leaves me free to read more books.
