My Fourteenth book for
ljbookbingo is A Matter of Oaths by Helen S. Wright for #14 A Book Featuring an LGBTQIA+ Character, card found here:

When Commander Rallya of the patrol ship Bhattya hires Rafe as their new Web officer, she knows she is taking a risk. As an oath breaker, Rafe has suffered the ultimate punishment – identity wipe – but luckily for him, there's no one else around qualified for the job. Shunned by his previous shipmates, Rafe is ready to keep his head down and do his job, but his competence quickly earns him respect, admiration, and, in one particular case, love.
It's difficult to maintain the glow of acceptance however, when his past is chasing him across the galaxy in the shape of an assassin, intent on dealing once and for all with Rafe, whatever the cost. ~Amazon Description
I enjoyed this Sci-Fi book tremendously. I first heard about it when one of my favorite authors Becky Chambers recommended it. So I was super stoked when I finally got my hands on it. It was good. I liked that the author jumped between pov's of the various characters. Rafe is an intriguing character and you can't help but feel for him and what he has been through with having his memory wiped for a crime he can't remember. Joshim is a still waters run deep type of character and he falls so hard for Rafe and is such a sweetheart that you start to fall a bit in love with both of them. Their romance never overshadows the main plot but instead is a steady undercurrent to it. There are all these quiet sort of moments between them that are so lovely. Then you have the commander Rallya, who is an older woman who is brash, smart, good at her job, and takes crap from no one. She is only a few years away from forced retirement and she is resisting that knowledge with all of her might. They are drawn into the mystery that is Rafe's past after several attempts on his life. There is mystery, conspiracy, and more twists then you can shake a stick at in this story. Overall I really loved it, in fact I looked the author up hoping this was the first in series or discover what other books she has written only to find out sadly this is the only book she has ever written.
My Fifteenth book for
ljbookbingo is The Mystery of the Curiosities by C.S. Poe for #41 A Book set on or near a Holiday, card found here:

Life has been pretty great for Sebastian Snow. The Emporium is thriving and his relationship with NYPD homicide detective, Calvin Winter, is everything he’s ever wanted. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Sebastian’s only cause for concern is whether Calvin should be taken on a romantic date. It’s only when an unknown assailant smashes the Emporium’s window and leaves a peculiar note behind, that all plans get pushed aside in favor of another mystery. ~Amazon Description
The second in the Snow & Winter series, The Mystery of the Curiosities, is another very nicely done mystery/romance novel. Sebastian's pov continues to be delightful. He is a well rounded character who has more curiosity then what is probably healthy for him, but it does lead to us readers being able to tag along as he tries to solve another murder that was literal left on his doorstep. I continue to enjoy Sebastian and Calvin's relationship which is growing more serious by the day but it is also not all love and kisses as Calvin's PTSD continues to get worse and they are at loggerheads about Sebastian's continuing involvement in the detective's murder cases. All in all a really enjoyable story. I will definitely be reading more in this delightful series.
