My Twenty-Fourth book for
ljbookbingo is The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells for #42 Post-Apocalyptic/Dystopian, card found here:

I have been meaning to read this book for awhile. I have of course heard the radio play by Orson Welles and I have also seen the movies that used this book as their inspiration but I have never actually read the book. So when I needed a book that was post-apocalyptic/dystopian for the book challenge I finally decided to go ahead and read it. It was good and very readable considering it was written in 1898. It took a bit to get used to the first person narrative but after awhile I really grew to like how the story was being told. I thought the way the author wrote about how humanity would react to world ending events to be very insightful. He wrote about the good and the bad in a very honest and compelling way.

My Twenty-Fifth book for

The story toggles between the past, as Flynn Carsen tries to find Aladdin’s Lamp before an ancient criminal organization known as the Forty Seals gets hold of it, and the future, when Eve Baird and a new group of Librarians — protectors of ancient artifacts like King Arthur’s sword Excalibur — stumble on a mystery in Las Vegas that seems to relate to the Lamp and the powerful djinn it can summon. ~Goodreads Description
The Librarians tv series was such an awesome show and I am forever sad that we only got three seasons. I haven't fallen in love with a tv show as quickly as I did with this one in a long time. I usually am only in a fandom as more of a lurker then one who actually participates but I was so enamored with this show I participated in all the discussions and with all the fests basically went full tilt into every aspect of the show. So of course when I saw this book I snapped it up immediately.
This story really reminded me of the show only with more depth and I loved that they flashed back and forth between the past where Flynn had a run in with the Lost Lamp and the present where the Lits are having to deal with the Lamp being found once again. The overall plot was interesting and held my attention and I can't wait to read the next one!
